Emeritus Today. Today Emeritus Vineyards consists of two estate properties (the William Wesley vineyard having been sold in 2015): Hallberg Ranch and Pinot Hill. These two vineyards combine to give Emeritus almost 150 acres of Pinot Noir, making Emeritus the largest dry-farmed Pinot Noir estate in Sonoma County, and possibly in all of California. Here at Emeritus Vineyards, we focus on expressing the unique character of our vineyards through sustainable farming practices. We’re one of the first and largest dry-farmed estates in Sonoma County, which allows our vines to establish a natural balance of root mass, foliage, and fruit, and the grapes to achieve full ripeness without excessive sugars or extracted flavors. In 1999, legendary vintner Brice Cutrer Jones founded Emeritus with the goal of creating a grand cru-caliber estate capable of making the New World’s finest Pinot Noir. To achieve this goal, Brice and renowned Vineyard Manager Kirk Lokka planted two remarkable vineyards: Hallberg Ranch in the Russian River Valley, and Pinot Hill in the Sebastopol Hills.
